Flavia Saraiva shine and conquer gold in soil test event

Brazilian gymnast Flavia Saraiva shone late on Monday in the Olympic Arena in Rio de Janeiro. In the contest of artistic gymnastics test event for the Olympic Games in 2016, the youth of 16 years old and 1.35m tall had a flawless presentation and won the gold medal in the soil.

Relying on the waiver of athletes as the Romanian Catalina Ponor and Diana Bulimar, and the Swiss Giulia Steingruber, the Brazilian showed his favoritism and with a safe presentation, won 14,400 points and secured the gold medal. Larissa Miller, of Austria, won the silver with 13.700 and the German Leah Griesser completed the podium, with 13,566. Also representing Brazil , Daniele Hypolito finished in sixth place with 12,566 points.

Earlier, Flavia Saraiva had won the silver medal on the balance beam. Competing with the Dutch twins Flavinha reached 14.733 points and finished second. Sanne Wevers, current world vice-champion, took gold, reaching 14,800 points, while Lieke Wevers closed the podium with 14,366. Another Brazilian to reach the final, Jade Barbosa was in eighth place with 12,066 points.
