First "CR7" hotel opens in Madeira, which renamed its airport "Cristiano Ronaldo"
The footballer Cristiano Ronaldo opened on Friday the first "CR7" hotel in his hometown Funchal, on the island of Madeira, where authorities seized the opportunity to rename the airport with the name of the star of Real Madrid.
Less than two weeks to get the title of the European Championship with Portugal, the captain of the Selecção appreciated this Smiling Friday afternoon with a white cap on his head on the terrace of the hotel, a luxurious red building facing the sea which has opened its doors on July 1, when CR7 Euro still disputed.
"It's a little weird, I never imagined becoming a hotel for 31 years," he said humorously triple Baló de Oro, accompanied by his entire family, adding that its first hotel was open in his homeland, "where everything started".
The president of the autonomous region of Madeira, Miguel Albuquerque, took the opportunity to announce that the island airport from now is going to call Cristiano Ronaldo, to pay tribute to the Portuguese star in life.
Ronaldo plans to open another hotel "CR7" in Lisbon, then follow with others in Madrid and New York.
