The legendary Cuban jumper Javier Sotomayor discuss the Olympics for Globo

The Cuban exsaltador height, Javier Sotomayor, one of the legends of athletics of the island, confirmed today that it will participate in the next Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro 2016 as a commentator on television Brazilian Globo.

"The idea excited me and I will enjoy. Being in the Olympics is something spectacular," Sotomayor told the station on the island "Radio Havana Cuba".

Sotomayor, 48, internationally known as the "Prince of the Heights , " retired from active sport since 2001 and accumulated in his successful career three world records still in place in the category of cadets under 17 years 2,33 meters, the 2.45 (outdoor) and 2.43 meters (indoor) and two Olympic medals, achieved in Barcelona 92 and Sydney 2000.

During the next Olympics, Sotomayor is one of the invited Olympic legends to join the team of commentators and narrators of Sport TV Globo program, which airs over 4,000 hours live during the Games in Rio that will take place from 5 to August 21.

Recognized as the best jumper of all time, Sotomayor admitted that for him to become a sports commentator will be "a new experience".
